Getting started with Match Three

Try Match Three at your own pace and keep its objective in view. Score 900 points in twenty-five moves. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls. Begin with the solo mode shown on the page. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move.

8×8 board, move budget, cascades and no-legal-move handling.

Practice with a purpose

Locate the buttons and input area before beginning a long round. Use the on-screen labels to avoid an accidental restart. Keep the objective visible.

What you are aiming for

Score 900 points in twenty-five moves. Keep that objective in view throughout the round. Start with a deliberate move.

The playing sequence

  1. Swap adjacent pieces to make a line of three or more.
  2. Matched pieces disappear.
  3. Falling pieces can trigger cascades.
  4. Reach the target before running out of moves.

Making selections and moves

Tap adjacent cells. Read a button’s label before selecting it. Contact us with the game and device if a control does not respond.

An example to follow

A horizontal swap can complete a vertical line. Use the example as a guide rather than a substitute for reading your board. Keep the controls nearby.

A useful caution

A swap making no match is reverted. A different version of the game may use a different rule. Take enough time to read a new position. If a game has a timer, learn its controls first rather than searching for them during the round.
