How to play Ludo
Use a short break to learn the rhythm of Ludo. Bring all four tokens home before the other players. Use the example below to understand a decision. Use the opening round to become familiar with the layout. Look at what changes after your first action.
Play with two or four people on the same device. Follow the house rules shown on the board; internet matchmaking is not available.
A focus for your next round
Take enough time to read a new position. If a game has a timer, learn its controls first rather than searching for them during the round. Use the example to check your reasoning.
What counts as success
Bring all four tokens home before the other players. Read that aim before choosing your first action. Keep the controls in easy reach.
The playing sequence
- Roll six to leave the yard.
- Move an eligible token by the die value; home requires an exact roll.
- Capture opponents on non-safe squares.
- Six, capture and finishing a token grant another roll; a third consecutive six forfeits that roll.
How your actions work
Click or tap a piece and destination; use the turn indicator and legal-move feedback. Keep the playing area visible while using these controls. Use the visible help when you are unsure of the next input.
One way to understand the rules
A token two steps from home cannot use a three. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Keep the controls nearby.
One detail worth checking
Safe squares cannot capture; blockades are not part of this edition. Read the feedback to see why an action did not have the expected result. Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board.
